Housing Policy and Agreement
- Housing Terms & Conditions
-
Housing Terms and Conditions are designed to ensure our residence halls and living spaces remain safe, comfortable and supportive environments where every student can thrive. By living in campus housing, you and your guests agree to uphold these standards.
Please note that campus living is an extension of our broader community. In addition to these housing terms, all policies in the Student Handbook apply to residential spaces. As a resident, you are responsible for understanding and adhering to both sets of policies. Violations of these standards may result in action through the student conduct process. Questions about the Housing Terms and Conditions can be directed to the Residential Life and Housing Office at 616.395.7800.
- Housing Agreement
-
The Housing Agreement is completed by each student who applies for and is assigned on-campus housing. Below is a PDF example of your Housing Agreement for the current academic year.
If you have questions about the Housing Agreement or if you are needing a letter for proof of residency, please email the Housing Office at housing@hope.edu
Residential and College Policies
- Residential Policy
-
Â鶹¹ú²ú is a residential college. We are committed, by choice, to be a living-learning community. This means that the residential environment directly connects to the mission of the college, and a student’s persistence, engagement in learning activities, and sense of safety and belonging. Questions about this policy may be directed to Office of the Dean of Students or Residential Life and Housing Office at 616.395.7800.
- Student Handbook
-
The Â鶹¹ú²ú Student Handbook provides essential information regarding campus life, policies and procedures. The college strives to make our campus a place where members can study, work and live, and where people are treated with respect. Questions regarding the Student Handbook may be directed to the Office of the Dean of Students at 616.395.7800.
- Drug and Alcohol Policy
-
In compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act, Â鶹¹ú²ú prohibits all marijuana use, including medical marijuana. Questions about this policy may be directed to the Dean of Students Office at 616.395.7800.
- Smoking Policy
-
Â鶹¹ú²ú is a smoke-free campus. Federal and state laws prohibiting the possession or use of tobacco by anyone under the age of 21 were implemented in December 2019. Possession and/or usage of tobacco and/or e-cigarettes is not permitted for anyone under the age of 21. Questions about this policy may be directed to the Dean of Students Office at 616.395.7800.
- Dining Services and Board Policy
-
Dining Services strives daily to provide the best possible experience for our students, guests and alumni. Our staff is continually seeking new products, methods, tools and training that allow us to offer residential dining, retail and catering programs like no other. You will be treated with respect and integrity. We will listen to your needs and find ways to meet them. To that end, we will do our very best to remain exceptional in our field and integrated with all of the other departments on campus.
Students living in residence halls are required to have a minimum of a 10-meal plan with the college Dining Services. The Unlimited plan is the best value and is recommended for all new students. Students living in off-campus residences or in college-operated apartments and cottages often choose to have a meal plan, but it is not required. An enhanced meal plan is available for these students called the 7+ meal plan. It provides seven meals per week (meals may be used in Phelps dining hall) plus one snack per day at Kletz Market and concessions.
Returning students may change their meal plan only during the first week of class of fall and spring semester. If a student wishes to cancel a meal plan or change the number of meals other than during the designated periods they may contact the Business Services office.
Questions about Dining Services can be directed to dining@hope.edu or by calling 616.395.7930.
- Emergency Contact Policy
-
Student safety and wellbeing is very important to the Â鶹¹ú²ú community. For this reason, we ask that students help us by supplying (and regularly verifiying) emergency contact information.
Students are strongly encouraged to enter themselves as an emergency contact in order to receive emergency text messages to their cell phones. Questions concerning the Emergency Contact Policy may be directed to the Dean of Students Office at 616.395.7800.
